Anime Vanguards Traits Guide — Rerolls & Priority

Last checked August 2, 2026

Traits are one of the biggest power levers after unit rarity. Free Trait Rerolls from codes are premium — this guide is about not wasting them.

Wondering how many rerolls for a chase trait? Use the reroll odds calculator.

What traits do (simple version)

Each unit can roll a trait that modifies damage, utility, economy, or survivability. A strong unit with a bad trait often underperforms a slightly worse unit with a great trait.

Exact trait names and rates change with patches — always confirm in-game tooltips. This page is about decision rules, not a full data dump.

Priority: who gets rerolls first

Priority Target Why
1 Your main DPS (SS/S if you own one) Most of your clear time sits here
2 Core support you always place Multiplies the whole team
3 Secondary DPS / AoE clear Only after #1 feels “good enough”
Skip Temporary fillers, units you will replace this week Burn rate is high, value is low

Use the tier list to decide who is a real main.

When to spend free code rerolls

Do spend soon if:

  • You already have a long-term DPS (banner SS/S or best A-tier you own)
  • You are stuck on a stage and damage is the bottleneck
  • You just redeemed a big Trait Reroll code and that unit is still default-trait

Bank for a bit if:

  • You are about to pull a new banner unit you plan to main
  • You only own early fillers (finish beginner path first)
  • A major balance update is announced in the next day or two

Practical reroll loop

  1. Pick one unit as the investment target.
  2. Reroll until the trait is usable for your modes (not perfection on day one).
  3. Stop and clear content — do not empty the whole stack chasing a 0.1% dream roll on a mid unit.
  4. Only resume rerolls when that unit is still your main after the next banner.

Common mistakes

  • Rerolling every new epic “just in case”
  • Splitting 50 rerolls across five units equally
  • Ignoring supports that amplify your DPS
  • Spending all gems on summons, then having zero path to trait the unit you got

Traits + codes synergy

  1. Redeem active codes (Copy all).
  2. Check level requirements if redeem fails.
  3. Open this priority table → dump free rerolls into main DPS.
  4. Confirm the unit is still worth it on the tier list.

FAQ

Are traits permanent?

Traits stay on the unit until you reroll again (or use any reset the game provides). Treat good rolls as account progress.

Should beginners trait early units?

Only if that unit will carry you for a long stretch. Otherwise level up, grab codes that need Level 30, and wait for a real main.

Do traits matter more than evolution?

Both matter. Evolution unlocks kits and scaling; traits multiply what you already place. Skipping evolution to chase traits (or the reverse) both slow you down — do the cheap evolution steps on your main first when mats are available. See the evolve guide.
